Winning isn't everything

Wailea Men gave up winning a State Championhip Race in the last State Championships Race held on Maui in 2017 in order to allow a fellow brother, Orion Owens, a seat in the mile and a half race. This was special and an honor as Orion had paddled with Wailea Canoe Club every summer until he suffered from a diving accident in Utah in which he suffered greatly. He did hot have mobility nor could he hold a paddle, however, these men of Wailea placed in https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/36017230/a-maui-canoe-club-gave-up-its-winning-streak-for-something-much-bigger/ the canoe, and he participated. It was beautiful and such a memorable and special moment for Orion as well as the men that made it happen. They did place 2nd by several seconds in spite of having 5 paddlers.
